MY FAVORITE THINGS

My home town, Yorktown, Texas is one of my favorite places to be.  It is where I lived for eighteen years, until I came to TLU.  It is where I grew up and where the majority of my family resides.  I love it because its a small town of about 2,270 people, so you see people you know on a daily basis, much like TLU.  I enjoy going home to spend time with my family and friends, it puts my mind at ease and I value the time I spend there.

My teammates, I play basketball at TLU.  My participation with this team has probably been the most rewarding experience of my time at TLU.  It is very special to come together with others for a common goal, my teammates are some of the most important and influential people in my life.  The best part about them is that they are my friends as well, we are able to push and play for each other which is an unexplainable high.  Without this network I do not now what I would do with myself.

Seguin is a large producer of pecans and is often attributed the nickname "Pecan Capital of Texas."  The city boasts of having the "World's Largest Pecan," a five feet long, two-and- a-half feet wide concrete pecan located in front of the county courthouse. However, a similar pecan was built in Brunswick, Missouri in 1982 that is considerably larger.  Even though is has lost isn't title I still love Seguin.  It is the home of my soon to be Alma Mater, TLU.  There is not too much to do as compare to bigger cities but luckily I am used to such a small atmosphere.

TRAVEL:  Playing basketball has allowed me to travel more than I ever have.  Our conference includes Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.  Every other year we travel to these states in addition to other tournaments, in the Fall we went to Oregon.  It has been great to see the U.S. with the company of my friends and teammates.

I have also traveled out of the country a few times.  I have been to Mexico several times and to Europe.  I thoroughly enjoy traveling the seeing new places and would not hesitate if given the opportunity to do so.

Food, I love food!  I am by no means a pick eater, my grandmother is a great cook and is slowly teaching me her magic.  My favorite food strangely enough is liver and onions, followed closely by my grandmother's sweet rice which is a German dish.  I love getting recopies off the internet, one that I visit most frequently is that of Rachel Ray.

Faith, I was born into the Lutheran faith and still attend my church, St. Paul Lutheran at home when possible.  As I grown older I feel myself straying away from organized religion and towards a faith of no denomination.  I am a very open minded person and am currently trying to strengthen my faith through a Life Application Bible that I recently received from my grandmother.
