My favorite sport is the one I currently play at TLU, golf. I have played since I was very young, but didn't really start taking it seriously until I got to high school and joined the team there. I started practicing almost every day and I realized I wanted to keep playing after high school as my game progressed. I really enjoy the game and how it is a challenge both physically and mentally. I also like the fact that there is always something you can do to improve, some aspect that needs work. I have had a great time at TLU going and competing in various tournaments in different parts of the country and have had some great experiences that I will remember for the rest of my life.
Besides golf I also like bowling and football. I only bowl as a hobby for fun, not anything serious or overly competitive, but I enjoy it a lot. I have done intramurals for bowling and usually go once or twice a week. Football is a sport that I really just like to watch. I never really wanted to play because of the risk of injury and how that could impact my golf game, but I really like to watch football. I watch both NCAA and NFL
I have a couple different hobbies that I do in my spare time. One is ping-pong. I don't really consider ping-pong a sport so much, but it is something I enjoy doing for fun from time to time. It is a game that is pretty easy to get good at and a lot of guys on my golf team play. We can get pretty competitive but it is just something fun to do when we aren't out at the golf course. I am also a pretty avid player of video games. I mainly play first person shooting games like Halo or Call of Duty, but I have recently gotten into music games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band. The games I enjoy most are the ones where you can play against other people and can be somewhat competitive. This is the main reason I like shooting games, because most of them have multiplayer modes that allow you to play against others. The reason I started playing Guitar Hero a lot is one, because I like rock music, and two, because it is a game that you can constantly improve at and it also provides a difficult challenge at the highest difficulties. Also, you can play with or against other people so it is a great game to play when you have others around.
The only shows I really like to watch on TV are sitcoms or funny animated cartoons. Sitcoms have kind of died out so there aren't really many current TV shows I like to watch. One show I do like, though would have to be Family Guy. I think the show is hilarious and I love the way it satires and references many different things from both the past and the present of American society. It can be kind of random at times but it always makes me laugh. My all-time favorite TV show, however, is Seinfeld. The fact that I can watch almost any Seinfeld episode numerous times and still laugh each time is reason enough for this show to be my favorite. The way it pokes fun at how people act in different situations as well as at different aspects of the world is just really funny to me.
As far as movies go, I mainly like action movies, sci-fi, and comedies. Some of my favorite action movies are Gladiator, The Rock, and recently, 300. My favorite sci-fi movies are the Star Wars films. I also recently like the Lord of the Rings movies. Some comedies I enjoyed were The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad, Grandma's Boy, Happy Gilmore, and many others. The only types of movies I really don't like are cheesy, romantic type movies and really dumb movies.
Seguin has been a good place to live for my 4 years of school. It isn't nearly like my hometown, which is larger and closer to a big city being on the outskirts of Houston, but I have still liked living here. It is very easy to get around Seguin because there aren't as many people as larger cities, which is a definite benefit. There are a couple golf courses in Seguin where our golf team does most of its playing. While they aren't the nicest golf courses you will find, they have been a convenient place for our team to play and practice so that we can be successful. Seguin is also close to some other very nice cities, with San Antonio, New Braunfels, and San Marcos all within 30 miles or less.
I have really enjoyed my time at TLU a lot. Although there were times when this wasn't the case and class stressed me out, for the most part these have been 4 of the best years of my life. From the trips to golf tournaments around the country, to doing things with friends that I have met here, to my experiences in class and what I have learned here, TLU have been a great place. I really feel like I have been well prepared to go out into the real world and be successful. I have met a lot of great friends since I have been here and have had many memorable experiences that I will take with me as I leave school and go into the real world.
