TLU Experience I began my college career at TLU in the Fall of 2001.  I chose the small school in part because I was awarded its highest academic scholarship and not to mention I had an older cousin, Melissa Bakken, that was an upperclassman there.  Three weeks into that semester the tragedy of September 11th happened and it seemed like I was stuck in a nightmare from which I couldn't wakeup.  Once the shock wore off I got to know a group of guys called the Lambdas.  They invited me to join their fraternity and ever since then I've pretty much figured out the whole college scene.  I've had a great time here and shared some great memories, but it's time to mosey on and start this whole "life" thing.
City of Seguin At first glance the town of Seguin resembles a typical small agricultural community.  However, this area boasts some significant manufacturing and services.  Potential for growth here is enormous.  Rich, black soil and countless roads cater to residents and businesses the like.  There are neighborhoods of small factory homes nestled along narrow streets as well as near-rural acreage home sites for the local professionals.  It is located along a wide, slow-moving stretch of the Guadalupe river and the residents have taken on the same mentality.  While entertainment is sometimes sparse in a town of 25,000, the greater rivers area offers a myriad of options to explore like shopping, dining, antiquing, and just taking in the scenery from the perspective of a tube floating down your choice of waterway.
Travel I haven't much had the availability to travel much in my life due to the majority of my family being centered in the same few areas.  I still enjoy travel anyways and do it as frequently as possible.  When I am able to travel I'd rather drive than fly, so that I can see all that the land has to offer.
Food My favorite foods come off of the grill:  steaks, fajitas, and barbecue top the list.  Next comes home cooked meals like roast beef, meatloaf, and the traditional holiday meals of turkey and dressing or ham and scalloped potatoes.  I have lost my lust for sweets in my latest years since they were such a big part of my childhood palate.  When I do indulge, I prefer cobbler over pie and cake without icing.
Faith I was baptized Lutheran as an infant and later confirmed my faith in the religion at the age of 13.  In high school I rarely made it to worship services.  The draw of the youth group made religion seem kind of hokey to me until I felt free enough to explore the topic on my own.  I have come to the conclusion that religion is a very positive thing and serves as a guideline for living a good life and supporting a functioning society.  It is also an explanation for why things happen. It's all about karma, baby!
