Adding Attachments to Outgoing Mail

  1. To create a new mail message, click the new button on Standard Toolbar (Figure 1).

  2. Click the paper clip icon (Figure 2) on the Toolbar of the new message.

  3. The Insert File dialog box (Figure 3) will appear. Navigate to the location of file and select it or if a group of files, select + Shift. Choose Insert.

    Note: The Insert button also allows to send the attachment as text. This may be useful for small text documents but not recommend for files with heavy formatting or images.

  4. Attachments will display under the Subject line. Outlook will display an icon, the name of the file, and size of the file. Notice in the screen shot below (Figure 4), the first file attached is 1 MB which may be too large to send especially if the file is sent to someone on a dial up connection.
  5. To remove an attachment, right click over the attachment and click Clear.

  6. Click Send when finished.
